Her first role as an actor was in the TV film Her Costly Affair. The actress struggled for the role she wanted in Starship Troopers. It was a difficult transition for Amy since she needed to move from modelling into acting. Models aren't considered great actors so they tend to play smaller, less important roles. Amy was determined to succeed and was eventually offered larger roles starting in The 70s, the movie Varsity Blues.
