The first time she acted was in the TV film Her Costly Affair. Following a long and difficult battle, she landed a role as "Starship Troopers" her role in Starship Troopers. She struggled with the transition to acting as actors were never considered skilled actors and generally were offered small roles. Yet, somehow Amy did not give up and transitioned to more prestigious roles. It all started with the series The 70s and the film Varsity Blues. Amy then stepped into main roles for the 2005 romantic comedy film Just Friends which also starred Ryan Reynolds. Amy found her recognition after more than ten years struggling. Amy continued to make major films such as the Crank series opposite Jason Statham and the series Shameless where she played a well loved recurring character.
